Barbera d'Alba Maggiora

 

Made from Barbera grapes grown on the more recently-planted vineyards located in the Visette area of Monforte d’Alba

Planting density: 5000 vines/ha.
Altitude: 350/400 m. asl.
Position: facing west, north-west.
Vinification:
an initial cryo-extraction lasting 34 hours to bring out the wine’s freshness and fragrance to the full is followed by maceration on the skins for 4 further days at a controlled temperature. The fermentation only makes use of native yeasts.
Maturing: 
in small oak barrels for 12 months.
Ageing:
in the bottle for several months, at a controlled temperature of 15° C.
Colour:
deep ruby red, with garnet highlights.
Nose:
fruity, powerful.
Taste:
appealing, luscious and well-balanced, with hints of raspberry and fruits of the forest.
Storage temperature: between 13° and 15° C.
Serving temperature: 16° C.
Pairings:
red and white meats, simple dishes, first courses and cheeses.
